Making their first appearance this season in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, brothers Kyle and Todd LeDuc swept the top spots in the premier Unlimited 4 and Unlimited 2 800HP truck classes. With the Lake Elsinore rounds 7&8 presented by Rockstar Energy Drink, the Rockstar/Makita Team that also includes family patriarch Curt LeDuc, gave fans a thrill with a dominating performance. Rockstar Energy Drink teams also took additional podiums with Chris Brandt racing to his first Unlimited Lite win of the season and Brian Deegan showing strong consistency with back to back second place finishes in U-Lite.

Another enjoyable, balmy summer afternoon and evening drew fans back to the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Complex in Lake Elsinore, CA for Round 8 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series presented by Geico Powersports. Once again, the stars of short course off-road racing took to the track and put on a great show for those in the stands, closing out a spectacular weekend of competition with ten races worth of cheering, fist pumps, and big smiles for all those in attendance. Drivers, crews, officials, and spectators alike watched the track come alive with the slinging of mud and the high-flying antics of the drivers, and listened in awe to the thunder of racing engines large and small. The competition was again fierce, and fans went home happy for the second night in a row.

With a move from daytime to nighttime racing, fans flocked to the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Complex to enjoy a great evening of action under the lights here in Lake Elsinore, CA. A cool breeze and balmy nighttime temperatures made for a great atmosphere for round 7 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series presented by GEICO Powersports, and fans were treated to an incredible night of racing. The action was arguably the most exciting of the season so far, with many nail-biting incidents, as well as multiple races whose winners were decided on the final lap. Fans most certainly went home happy, as the stars of off-road racing put on a fantastic show.

After stifling heat seemed to bake both drivers and fans during rounds 5 and 6 of competition here in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series presented by Geico Powersports, cooler temperatures were a welcome relief to all those in attendance for Friday’s qualifying session for round 7. Base temperatures were down, and a consistent, cool downdraft breeze from a summer thunderstorm to the east made it a pleasant day in the stands. Meanwhile, action was hot on the track, as pole position times were dropped significantly in all but one class when compared with those set a month ago during qualifying for round 5, setting up what will surely be an exciting evening of racing on Saturday night.

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series announced that the July 25th and 26th main events will be held under the lights in the evening at the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Complex. Increasing their support of the series, Rounds 7 and 8 are proudly presented by Rockstar Energy Drink. Rockstar, with an extensive roster of drivers including Cary Hart and Brian Deegan will have a noticeably increased presence both on-site as well as continued featured athlete profiles in the television broadcasts of the event. Making their first appearance in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, the powerhouse Rockstar/Makita Team of Todd, Kyle and Curt LeDuc are also expected to be strong podium contenders in the extreme horsepower Unlimited 2 and Unlimited 4 truck classes.

The inaugural season of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series thundered full steam ahead as thousands braved triple digit heat to witness some spectacular racing as the short course off road racing season reaches the midway point. As the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park emerged as a premier venue in short course off road racing, racers and fans alike were treated to incredible action both on and off the track. Lake Elsinore, a city long known for motocross action, skydiving and water sports, has taken their philosophy of Dream Extreme to new heights by embracing the sport of short course off road racing. Amidst a pit party featuring the high profile Hart&Hauntington/Rockstar Premier Motorsports Group, The Metal Mulisha and rock bands Alien Ant Farm and MXPX, the true stars of the weekend were the men who put on an amazing show on the track.

After a warm and sunny day of action yesterday, more high temperatures greeted some truly diehard fans today for Round 6 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series presented by Geico Powersports. The action on the track heated up as well, and spectators, drivers, and crews alike were treated to an exciting day of racing filled with surprises. No race was predictable, with leads changing, drivers faltering and shining, and both experienced and first-time winners making their way to the top step of the podium.

With the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series presented by Geico Powersports making its debut at the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Complex here in Lake Elsinore, CA, the story of the day was most certainly the impressive toppling of previously unbeaten Unlimited Lite driver Robert Naughton. To see his streak of race wins come to an end at four certainly amazing, but to have it broken by hometown hero Brian Deegan was nothing short of inspiring. The crowd endured hot and humid conditions to see the Lake Elsinore native, along with all the other stars of short course off-road racing, as they all took to the track for an action-packed day of racing.

A relatively trouble-free afternoon followed, with many familiar faces and some new ones topping the time sheets when the dust had settled.

Today, Lucas Oil announced that the Goodyear blimp will present aerial coverage for the Lucas Oil Off Road Race in Lake Elsinore, California June 28th. Often seen flying high over many major national sporting events the presence of the Goodyear blimp represents the continued growth of short course off road racing along with the valued support of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series by the Goodyear Tire Company. The iconic Goodyear blimp, with images from its 360 degree state of the art Gyrocam provides images that will greatly enhance the quality of the Lucas Oil Offroad television broadcast.

Lucas Oil is pleased to announce the Lucas Oil Challenge Cup short course off road racing season finale. The Lucas Oil Challenge Cup will be held at the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Complex on December 11th and 12th 2009. The Lucas Oil Off Road Challenge Cup is a one race, winner take all, end of year short course off road shootout in which winners in all classes will take home a beautiful trophy, a generous check and off-season bragging rights. The event will be televised on a national prime time broadcast. Short course off road race teams throughout the country will have completed their season points championships and will be in the position to compete at the highest level, putting everything on the line.

A partnership has been formed that unites AMA Pro MX Championship Title Sponsor Lucas Oil and the Honda Team of Troy Lee Designs. Today the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) announced a partnership with Spanish Language Station KWHY-TV Channel 22. This agreement will add an additional 40 hours of the Lucas short course series on Spanish language television. KWHY-TV is available on both broadcast and cable television.
This additional television coverage will allow the Lucas Off Road Racing Series to broadcast the popular racing series from June through December 2009. Said Lucas Oil’s Bob Patison on the agreement,” Reaching the emerging Hispanic marketplace is extremely important to the series and Lucas Oil. We know of the love for Baja desert racing and we believe that we will be able to capture that same excitement and enthusiasm with short course off road racing. As Sunday morning arrived, the Primm Valley Motorsports Complex came alive with the familiar sounds of busy teams making final preparations for the races to come. A long day of Saturday racing left some teams scrambling in the pits to assure that their equipment would be ready while others were fine tuning their machines in the hopes of duplicating the previous day’s results.
By days end, the teams and crowd were treated to another fantastic day of racing while emerging stars such as Unlimited 4’s Jerry Daugherty and Unlimited 2’s Rodrigo Ampudia showed their mettle to set themselves from the pack while experienced veteran Robert Naughton, while broken (foot), did not bend in taking his second Unlimited Lite win of the weekend.

Sunny skies and beautiful weather drew a packed house to the opening round of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series presented by Geico Powersports. Thrilled fans watched in awe as the most talented off-road drivers in the world brushed off the cobwebs, taking to the track and looking like they’d never left. Off-road superstar Carl Renezeder took two impressive wins, helping himself to the largest part of a $60,000 purse which was put up by K&N Filters. Renezeder snagged both $15,000 checks for each of his wins in the Unlimited 2 and Unlimited 4 divisions, and brought home the first two short course wins since re-entering the off-road arena.

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series is primed and ready for its inaugural event at the Primm Valley Motorsports Complex April 4th and 5th. The Series boasts a very strong TV package with SPEED, featuring 30 hours of original programming during the 2nd, 3rd and fourth quarters of 2009. SPEED has stepped up its commitment to the sport by increasing the television coverage from the initial 18 hours of original programming to 30 hours. This will enable Lucas Oil Studios to provide greater coverage of all classes, including Unlimited Lites, Super Lites, Buggies and Karts.

As previously announced in a press release dated February 13th 2009, K&N Filters is coming to the aid of race teams in these tough economic times. Beginning at the Lucas Oil Off Road Series' inaugural event, K&N Filters will be increasing the purse payout in the Unlimited 4 and Unlimited 2 Truck divisions. The prize money will be increased for both race dates, April 4th and 5th at the Primm Valley Motorsports Complex. | CORR-JIM BALDWIN EXTENDS OFFER OF COOPERATION TO LUCAS OIL OFF ROAD RACING SERIES |
The management staff of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series and representatives of Championship Off Road Racing (CORR) have met several times over the past two weeks to discuss issues of mutual concern within the short course off road industry. The end result of these meetings was an agreement between the parties to work together to promote the well being of short course off road racing. Jim Baldwin, principal figure in CORR, offered the use of the CORR name and logo to the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series for a period of one year. Mr. Baldwin also offered the use of his fabulous Chula Vista facility to Lucas Oil Off Road for 2009, maximum of three events. Mr. Baldwin’s offer was conveyed in writing on February 12, 2009 and confirmed in a telephone conversation the following day between Jim Baldwin and Bob Patison. |
