Compton, California (September 21, 2017) – Greg Adler and the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series brought the excitement of short course off-road racing home to Southern California this past weekend for a doubleheader at San Bernardino's Glen Helen Raceway. The standing-room only crowds were treated to some of the year's best racing as Adler and his cohorts in the 900-HP Pro 4 division brought the house down under the lights with each evening's marquee event. For the President and CEO of locally based off-road retailer, 4 Wheel Parts, the year's penultimate event provided the opportunity to race in front of friends and family while hosting a strong contingent of the company's locally based employees.

"As we were pulling out onto the track for the opening ceremonies it was quite a sight to see the packed stands and people standing three and four deep all the way along the railings," said Adler. "There's such a huge following here for short course racing, it's great to be back in Southern California where the series got its start. We had more than a hundred people from 4 Wheel Parts come out to cheer us on. It's pretty awesome to have that kind of support."

Prepared to take on off-road racing elite in the Friday night opener, Adler and the #10 charged forward in close quarters to take the green flag as Round 11 action kicked off. Just a few laps into the race, while completing a soaring tabletop jump, a competitor was stopped directly in his path. With nowhere to turn, Adler became stacked up in the ensuing melee. Once the dust settled, he regained the field and pushed forward with his advance. Unfortunately, as Adler was in the hunt he lost momentum with a mechanical issue putting a stop to his charge.

"We had a good start and with everyone within a second of each other, it's tight racing," said Adler. "Tonight we were collected in an incident that slowed us down but we kept charging. It looked like we were getting back into the mix but we lost a U-bolt on the rear driveshaft and it ended our night."

Saturday's weekend finale had all of the indications of redemption for the prior night's lost opportunity. Although he was shuffled to the back of the pack in the early laps, Adler pressed on and maintained a fast consistent pace. Seeing multiple on-track incidents take their toll on the field, he was able to avoid being a victim of the night's carnage as he moved through the pack. Once into sixth place and advancing, yet another caution flag allowed him the opportunity for a strong, late race restart that earned him a third place position.

Having apparently secured himself a podium position and now dicing for second place, Adler pushed on with just three laps remaining. Suddenly, he slowed with a mechanical issue that put him out of contention and ultimately coming home with a sixth place result.

"Our plan was to go out there, stay on pace, keep out of trouble, and make sure we were in a contending position late in the race," said Adler. "We executed that plan and it looked like we were headed towards a strong finish tonight. It would have been incredible to bring the #10 home to a podium finish with so many people out here behind us. These trucks take a lot of abuse and attrition got the best of us. We put on a strong showing and gave it everything we had but it just wasn't our night."

The team now prepares for the final round of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series - The 4 Wheel Parts Off Road Nationals at Wild Horse Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona and the Lucas Oil Challenge Cup October 21-22.
