Night racing is back in full effect for the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, presented by GEICO, as the top short course off-road drivers have torn into the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for Rounds 13 and 14 of the 2013 championship. Only three rounds remain this season, and this weekend it's do or die time for anyone hoping to take home a championship, as well as for those hoping to salvage something positive from this year. This track is tough to tame; those who get it right seem to enjoy what is as close to "regular success" as anyone can expect in this unpredictable sport. However, those who struggle here are often bitten hard, and tonight, it seemed as though nobody was safe from the cruelties that this place can inflict. Many drivers saw big hopes dashed, and yet others were rewarded, in some cases almost surprisingly, and it was the same scenario in almost every race here tonight: it ain't over 'til it's over.
The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, presented by GEICO, is back in action this weekend! After a four-week hiatus, the drivers and crews are revved up and raring to go here at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and the 2013 championship is really coming down to crunch time. With just three races left, the two rounds here this weekend will set up the all-telling season finale next month at Lake Elsinore, so the events of these next two rounds of racing will be of critical importance. Add to that the excitement and unique challenges of racing under the lights (yes, this is our second night race of the season), and you've got a recipe for one thrilling weekend of short course off-road racing. Thursday would see a morning practice session, followed by two qualifying sessions, the first of which would set the grids for Friday night's races, and the second of which would determine the start order for Saturday night's main events. Every points matters, now more than ever, and the pair of bonus points on offer here in qualifying would be highly coveted.
