The Pro 4 class of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) is not for the faint of heart. As the top of the top, drivers are not lining up to lose and it certainly makes for some incredible racing. One driver making his Pro 4 debut is previous Pro 2 Rookie-of-the-Year Kipp Mickels.
The intense competition ofLOORRS was an instant attraction for rookie Mickels. After starting his racing career in the desert in 2012, Mickels went to a LOORRS race and was quickly hooked. A major draw for him was that it offered a little bit of everything - jumps, whoops, wide open corners.
When it comes to his goals for 2020, Mickels isn’t looking to just win some races.
“We have multiple championships in the regional series, so we are going to try and do that in the nationals.”
With success like that, it’s hard to believe he has less than 10 years of racing experience under his belt, but Mickels still has plenty of reason to believe he can run at the front.
“I have many career highlights thus far, but the one that stands out is when I won the Pro 2 Rookie-of-the-Year. That was pretty cool.”
Great moments like the Rookie-of-the-Year and solid finishes in 2019 continue to drive Mickels, who is more than ready for the season to begin.
The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series season opener is closing in on the horizon and drivers are eager to converge on the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona, for what is sure to be an action-packed season.
