Originally from Waycross, Georgia, but currently residing in Fernandina Beach, Florida, Ritchie Lewis has been around motorsports since he started voluntarily hanging banners for Georgia's HAV-A-TAMPA Dirt Racing Series. Born from his tremendous love and respect for the industry and all of its technical aspects, Ritchie began working for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) in 2007 and with the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) in 2012.
"Having grown up a motorsports enthusiast, working for a major series promoter like Lucas Oil was always a goal," says Ritchie. "From the second I started at Lucas Oil, I knew I was exactly where I wanted to be. The collaboration between team members is second to none and everyone involved not only enjoys their role but works tirelessly to make LOORRS the world’s best short course off road racing series."
Before beginning his journey at Lucas Oil, Lewis gained experience in the late model racing world as a team member for different series and organizations, including HAV-A-TAMPA, United Dirt Track Racing Association and the Xtreme DIRTcar Series. In 2007, Ritchie became Series Director for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, where he spent many years overseeing, coordinating and implementing all aspects of LOMLDS events before answering the call to take over as Series Director for LOORRS in 2012.
Since starting as Series Director for Lucas Oil Off Road Race Series, Lewis has steadily climbed up the ranks to become Director of Race Operations for the Series. Being the hard worker that he is, Ritchie still remains involved in Late Models too, but from a higher perspective.
Ritchie is a positive-minded leader who firmly believes in the power of people that work together for a common goal. With the talented team at LOORRS, he is confident in their collective ability to adjust to the changing landscape and provide a world-class setting for some incredible short course off-road racing.
"The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series holds a special place in my heart. I've worked with other race series in the past, but there's no comparison to the family feel here at Lucas Oil. Everyone on the LOORRS team is incredibly helpful and passionate about growing the sport," states Ritchie. "I couldn't be more proud to be a part of the LOORRS family, and I wholeheartedly believe our fantastic team members will have the Series running like normal once we're all safe to do so."
As for the 2020 season, one of the things that Ritchie is looking forward to is the exciting new track changes that will welcome drivers and fans at Wild Horse Pass when we get to Rounds 6 and 7 this season.
"Anything that makes lap times faster and the racing better is of great interest to me," says Ritchie. We couldn't agree more.
